SOLD - Pearl has found a new home in Oregon.

I've finally gotten the photo gallery together and am listing Project 15 for sale. I'm asking $4200. I base the price on my last 700 sold and, ironically, my first 750. As comparable bikes, both sold for $4000 or more, two and six years ago. Neither was quite to this standard. For the copy from my local Craigslist ad, click "read more."
HONDA VFR700 F2 Interceptor — 1987

$4200

Up for sale is my recently completed refurbishment of an ’87 VFR700 Interceptor in Pearl Crescent White. By “refurbishment” I mean the bike has been mechanically and cosmetically inspected, cleaned, updated, replaced, repaired…whatever needed attention was accomplished.

This bike has 11,100 miles and was obviously well cared for and led a pampered life. It is in as original condition as any I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen plenty. My retirement hobby (my wife uses the term “obsession”) is finding these second generation Interceptors and returning them to the road and back into the hands of new owners who appreciate their performance, beauty and historical significance and will care for them into the future. Please visit my website for more on what I do: V4Dreams.com

This is an original-condition survivor Interceptor in excellent condition. No issues, no excuses, no disappointments. The paint is gorgeous, the mechanics are correct, the tank has no dents and is rust-free inside. The bike looks new and starts and runs perfectly hot or cold. This second generation Interceptor is historically significant in Honda’s sport bike history, was ahead of it’s time, and combines the 11,500 RPM redline of a smaller displacement engine with the torque of a 700. The V4 is a jewel of engineering and has a sound and feel unmatched by inline four cylinder engines. These are unique bikes and will never lose a dime of value.

More about this bike:
- Production number 976

- This generation of VFR produced only in ’86 & ’87 (USA)

- Pearl Crescent White was a special edition color in ’86 and one of two standard colors for ’87

- The F2 was a mild update of the F, including a shorter shifter, suspension upgrades, ignition upgrade, and square instruments in place of round ones.

- The bike is all original as far as I can determine with the exception of a repair on the left lower corner of the head light fairing. I only know this because I saw the repair from the backside of the piece. The paintwork repair is flawless. There is a 1-inch scratch on the right side of the head light fairing, see photos.

- Includes the hard to find passenger seat cowl in excellent condition

- Includes owners manual (with case), Clymer service manual and original tool kit

What’s been done recently:
- New spark plugs

- Valves adjusted

- Compression checked

- Carburetors cleaned, jetting tuned, carbs sync’d

- K&N air filter

- Fork rebuild

- Steering head bearings updated to tapered bearings

- Fresh Bridgestone BT-45 tires

- Recent battery

- New fuel lines and filter

- NOS hand grips installed

- Galfer stainless braided brake lines in black — front & rear

- Brake calipers bench cleaned, new Galfer HH pads

- Shorter turn signals stalks mounted front & rear to tuck the signals closer to the body

- Bike is completely cleaned and detailed

The bike is located in Antioch IL, north of Chicago near the WI border. I can deliver the bike at no charge within 150 driving miles of Antioch IL via open trailer, or farther by arrangement. If you’re able, please come by and inspect the bike in person. Sorry, no test rides. I have a clear and clean IL title in my name with no issues.
